Homester Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 7, 2026
Homester helps households preserve, retrieve, and maintain practical household information over time. This Privacy Policy explains how Homester collects, uses, stores, shares, protects, exports, and deletes information when you use our website, mobile application, web portal, and related services.
This Privacy Policy is intended to describe our practices clearly and practically. Some rights and disclosures may apply differently depending on where you live.
1. Who We Are
Homester is a household operational continuity service. We help users manage household-related information such as properties, assets, providers, warranties, receipts, invoices, manuals, maintenance records, photos, screenshots, emails, reminders, service history, and related records.
For privacy questions or requests, contact us at support@homesterapp.com.
2. Our Privacy Commitments
Homester is designed around household trust. Our privacy commitments are:
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not use personal information for targeted advertising.
- We do not share personal information with advertisers or data brokers.
- We do not use user documents or household records to train AI models unless we ask for separate permission.
- We use personal information to provide, secure, support, analyze, and improve Homester.
- We use analytics for aggregated reporting and product observation, not advertising.
- We redact, avoid, or minimize personal information in application logs where reasonably practical.
- We limit internal access to user data and log support access where practical.
- We support user export and deletion of account and household data, subject to legal, security, backup, and operational requirements.
3. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, information generated through your use of Homester, and limited technical information needed to operate and secure the service.
Account Information
This may include your name, email address, authentication identifiers, subscription status, account settings, communication preferences, and support history.
Household and Property Information
This may include property details, household profiles, asset records, provider information, service history, maintenance events, warranty records, reminders, notes, and other household continuity information you create or store in Homester.
Uploaded Documents, Images, and Artifacts
You may upload or submit documents and files such as receipts, invoices, manuals, warranties, photos, screenshots, emails, PDFs, registrations, maintenance records, and similar household materials.
These materials may contain personal information, property information, account numbers, contact details, addresses, serial numbers, service information, or other information included in the original document.
Extracted and Generated Information
Homester may process uploaded materials to extract or generate useful household information, such as provider names, service dates, asset names, serial numbers, warranty periods, maintenance history, reminder suggestions, search summaries, continuity timelines, and evidence references.
AI, OCR, and Automation Data
Homester may use optical character recognition, automation, rules, and artificial intelligence tools to classify documents, extract information, generate suggestions, summarize records, and improve retrieval.
AI and automation are used to support household continuity. They do not replace your judgment, and generated suggestions may be incomplete or incorrect.
Usage, Device, and Diagnostic Information
We may collect limited technical and usage information, such as device type, browser type, operating system, app version, IP address, log data, crash reports, performance data, feature usage, and security events.
We use this information to operate, secure, debug, analyze, and improve Homester.
Analytics Information
We use analytics to understand aggregated product usage, system performance, feature adoption, and user activity patterns. We do not use analytics for targeted advertising.
Where practical, analytics are aggregated, de-identified, pseudonymized, or limited to reduce privacy risk.
Payment and Subscription Information
If you purchase a subscription, payment information is processed by our payment provider. Homester may receive limited billing metadata such as subscription status, plan type, payment confirmation, renewal status, and related account information.
We do not intentionally store full payment card numbers.
Support Communications
If you contact us for support, we may collect your message, contact information, attachments, screenshots, diagnostic information, and other details needed to respond.
4. Information You Should Not Upload
Homester is designed for household operational continuity. Unless we provide specific features and safeguards for these categories, you should not upload highly sensitive records such as tax returns, medical records, government identification documents, Social Security numbers, bank statements, credit card statements, passwords or security credentials, legal records unrelated to household operations, or documents containing sensitive personal information unrelated to household continuity.
If you upload these materials, they may be processed, stored, and handled under this Privacy Policy, but Homester is not designed or intended to serve as a general sensitive-record vault.
5. How We Use Information
We use information to provide, operate, maintain, and improve Homester; create and manage accounts; store, retrieve, and organize household continuity records; process uploaded artifacts; extract household-relevant information; generate summaries, suggestions, timelines, reminders, and search results; support property-level sharing and permissions; provide support; process subscription status; monitor reliability, performance, abuse, fraud, and security; produce aggregated reporting and product analytics; debug errors; comply with legal obligations; enforce our terms; and communicate with you about Homester.
6. Legal Bases for Processing
For users in jurisdictions that require a legal basis for processing, such as the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we process personal information under one or more of the following legal bases:
- Contract, when necessary to provide Homester, manage your account, store and retrieve records, process artifacts, provide support, and deliver subscribed services.
- Legitimate interests, such as securing the service, preventing abuse, improving reliability, understanding aggregated product usage, debugging issues, and developing useful features, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights and interests.
- Consent, where required for optional integrations, optional communications, optional use of certain data, or other features where consent is appropriate.
- Legal obligations, when necessary to comply with laws, regulations, legal requests, accounting obligations, tax requirements, or dispute resolution.
7. How We Share Information
We do not sell personal information.
We do not share personal information with advertisers or data brokers.
We do not share personal information for targeted advertising.
We may share information only as described below.
Service Providers
We may share information with service providers that help us operate Homester, such as hosting, storage, authentication, email, analytics, crash reporting, customer support, payment processing, OCR, AI processing, infrastructure, security, and monitoring providers.
These providers are authorized to process information only as needed to provide services to Homester and are expected to protect information appropriately.
Other Users You Invite
If you share a property, household workspace, or record with another user, that user may be able to access, view, add, edit, export, or manage information according to their role and permissions.
Legal, Safety, and Security Purposes
We may disclose information if we believe it is necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, enforce our terms, protect rights, investigate fraud or abuse, prevent security incidents, or protect the safety of users or others.
Business Transfers
If Homester is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, sale of assets, or similar transaction, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate protections.
8. Property Sharing and Permissions
Homester may allow users to share access to a property or household workspace.
Access may include roles such as owner, contributor, or viewer. Depending on the role, shared users may be able to view, add, edit, export, or manage household records, artifacts, providers, reminders, and related data.
You are responsible for choosing who you invite and what access they receive.
9. AI and Automated Processing
Homester may use OCR, automation, rules, and AI tools to help process uploaded artifacts and household records. These tools may be used to read and extract text from documents and images; classify household artifacts; suggest assets, providers, events, reminders, and metadata; generate summaries and search responses; identify possible duplicate or related records; and improve retrieval and continuity timelines.
We do not use user documents or household records to train AI models unless we ask for separate permission.
AI-generated outputs may be incomplete or incorrect. Where practical, Homester is designed to connect important outputs back to supporting artifacts, user actions, or source records.
10. Logs, Diagnostics, and Internal Access
We use logs and diagnostics to operate, secure, and improve Homester.
Where reasonably practical, personal information is redacted, avoided, minimized, or pseudonymized in application logs.
Internal access to user data is limited to personnel or authorized service providers who need access for support, security, operations, debugging, compliance, or service delivery. Support access is limited and logged where practical.
11. Data Storage and Security
Homester uses technical, administrative, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. These may include access controls, encryption, logging, monitoring, account protections, isolated storage patterns, vendor controls, and secure development practices.
Document and household data storage is designed to be mostly isolated between users, accounts, properties, or storage boundaries, depending on the architecture of the service.
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that information will never be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed.
12. Data Retention
We retain personal information and household records for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Homester, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, maintain security, preserve backups, and support business operations.
Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information, the reason we collected it, legal requirements, backup systems, security needs, and user settings.
When information is no longer needed, we delete, de-identify, aggregate, or otherwise dispose of it according to applicable requirements and operational constraints.
13. Export and Deletion
You may request an export of your account and household data.
You may also request deletion of your account and household data.
Deletion may not be immediate in all systems. Some information may remain for a limited period in backups, logs, billing records, security records, or legal records where retention is reasonably necessary or legally required.
To request export or deletion, contact support@homesterapp.com.
We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.
14. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access personal information we process about you; confirm whether we process your personal information; correct inaccurate personal information; delete personal information; export or receive a copy of personal information; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or certain profiling where applicable; appeal a denied privacy request where applicable; and lodge a complaint with a data protection authority or regulator.
Because Homester does not sell personal information or use personal information for targeted advertising, opt-out rights related to sale, sharing, or targeted advertising may not apply to our current practices. If that changes, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide required choices.
To exercise privacy rights, contact support@homesterapp.com.
15. California Privacy Notice
This section applies to California residents where California privacy law applies.
We may collect identifiers, customer records information, commercial information, internet or electronic network activity, approximate geolocation information inferred from IP address, audio/electronic/visual or similar information submitted by users, inferences or derived information, and sensitive personal information only to the extent it appears in user-submitted materials or account/security data.
We use these categories for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including providing Homester, processing artifacts, supporting household continuity, securing the service, providing support, managing subscriptions, analytics, and compliance.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you. Sensitive information may appear in user-submitted materials, but Homester is not designed for highly sensitive records and discourages uploading them.
California residents may have the right to know, access, correct, delete, and receive information about certain data practices. They may also have rights to opt out of sale or sharing, although Homester does not currently sell personal information or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

17. Children
Homester is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Homester is also not intended for use by minors without involvement of a parent, guardian, or responsible adult. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child where prohibited, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
18. Integrations
Homester may offer integrations with services such as email, cloud storage, document storage, payment providers, identity providers, or other third-party systems.
If you choose to connect an integration, Homester may access, process, store, or retrieve information from that service as needed to provide the integration. You may be able to disconnect integrations through Homester or the third-party service.
Third-party services have their own privacy policies and practices.
19. Communications
We may send you service-related messages, such as account notices, security alerts, subscription notices, support responses, and important product updates.
We may send optional marketing or product communications where permitted. You may opt out of optional communications, but you may still receive service-related messages.
